This year, Memory Walk & Jog is going to be bigger and better! Walk, jog or run up a storm to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.
Memory Walk & Jog started as a small community event in Homebush. The first Memory Walk was held in 2008 and brought together 986 people whose lives had been touched by dementia. In 2013, more than 2,000 participants took part in the Sydney event around the bay at Leichhardt. What started as a small community event has grown to be one of Alzheimer’s Australia NSW’s major fundraising events.
With more than 332,000 Australians living with dementia and 112,000 of those in our state alone, it’s a fatal condition that will almost certainly affect us or someone we love in our lifetime.
All funds raised increase Alzheimer’s Australia NSW’s ability to provide vital support services, such as counselling, support groups, education to help family carers, art and music therapy, and professional training across NSW. These services reduce feelings of isolation and empower people living with dementia and those caring for them. With your help, we can make sure that our support is always available to those who need it.
Alzheimer's Australia NSW
More than 332,000 Australians are living with dementia and thousands more are diagnosed each year. Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is the peak body for people with dementia and their families and carers. We provide advocacy, support services, education and information.
We aim to give people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia the respect they deserve and the services and support they need, whilst raising community awareness and understanding of dementia.
